Biography

Originally from Ukraine, Katie Koss (Katja Poltavets) is a soulful indie pop artist. With her sultry, jazzy voice, signature guitar playing, and melodic bass lines (think North Sea Jazz meets Lowlands), she takes listeners on a deeply personal journey of self-love and freedom. Her artistry mirrors her inner world — transforming struggles and growth into emotional, relatable stories about feminism, ethnicity, and identity. Sometimes with a healthy dose of self-deprecating humor, other times with raw vulnerability.

In 2022, the Netherlands was first introduced to Katie Koss when she performed a duet with MEAU during the Giro555 TV fundraiser for the victims of the war in Ukraine. Shortly after, she appeared on Humberto, toured as an OOR Talent during Popronde, and performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag.

Katie collaborates with War Child, released two well-received EPs (supported by 3FM, Sublime, and Radio 2), and completed her first headline club tour. In the fall of 2024, she shared the stage with 3FM Talent Maryn Charlie on their What About You? tour. Together, they released a single and accompanying podcast, in which they spoke with female artists like MEAU and Hannah Mae about the highs and lows of being an artist.

2025 marks a new chapter for Katie Koss with the release of her single PUT YOUR HANDS UP. This track takes a bold, energetic turn into pop, making her yearning for freedom more palpable than ever. She will release her third EP in the fall.
